Vivian Chau

Vivian is a registered Psychologist and a Clinical Psychology Registrar. She strives to create an emotionally safe space for her clients to freely express their struggles, as she understands that the therapeutic relationship plays an important role in helping people heal. Her approach is compassionate, open-minded, collaborative, and practical. She is highly committed to helping people through diverse challenges and improving their quality of life.

Vivian has worked with an array of people; from children to older adults, with a range of presentations including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, interpersonal/relationship issues, and parenting stress. She has experience in both clinical and forensic settings and has facilitated a mindfulness parenting program. Her primary interests include working with parents, young adults, and individuals experiencing interpersonal/relationship problems.

Vivian flexibly draws upon elements of evidence-based psychological therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness based practices, and Schema Therapy, to meet the unique needs of her clients. In tailoring her approach to what feels right for her clients, she is also considerate and respectful of different cultural backgrounds and values.

In addition to working as a psychologist, Vivian is undertaking her PhD. A strong advocate for research, most of her work has primarily focused on maternal wellbeing and understanding the parent-child relationship.
