Vivian is a Clinical Psychologist who has a compassionate, open-minded and collaborative approach. She helps her clients navigate through life’s challenges and guides her clients to reach their full potential. Her passions are in supporting individuals experiencing relational trauma (e.g., childhood trauma), mood disorders, interpersonal / relationship issues, and parenting-related stress. She has experience in clinical, forensic, and academic settings, and has facilitated a mindfulness parenting program.
In her approach Vivian is eclectic and flexibly draws upon elements of evidence-based psychological therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Schema-informed Therapy, to meet the unique needs of her clients. In tailoring her approach to what feels right for her clients, she is also considerate and respectful of different cultural backgrounds and values.
In addition to working as a psychologist, Vivian is completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) under the Discipline of Psychiatry and Mental Health at the University of New South Wales. Prior to this, she completed a Bachelor of Psychology (First Class Honours) and a Master of Psychology (Clinical). She has published her research in international scientific journals (e.g., Child Abuse & Neglect, Psychiatry Research) on topics relating to parenting and the impact of childhood abuse. She remains actively engaged in research as she is passionate about the ongoing advancement of psychological treatments and combines the latest evidence-based research with her clinical skills to help her clients optimize their psychological wellbeing.
